When it comes to Data and Analytics within Higher Education, we lead the way.

We have worked with more than 40 universities in Australia, New Zealand and the UK across a range of Data & Analytics initiatives.

How we help

No other consultancy has the depth of experience in delivering data and analytics solutions for educational organisations.

Helping Universities utilise their data assets to support decision making

We leverage our tried and tested frameworks to deliver a wide range of outcome-focused activities for universities, including:

  • Data & Analytics Strategy and Roadmap – Bringing together the diverse views of stakeholders from across the organisation into a clear future-state strategy with an endorsed and prioritised roadmap for achieving the intended business outcomes.
  • Data & Analytics Health Check – Help universities understand the current state of their solution, identify issues and limitations, and provide pragmatic, specific and targeted actions for improvement.
  • Data Platform & Toolset Selection – Applying our proven, vendor-independent selection methodology and tools, we will guide you through an objective assessment of the offering of platform and toolset vendors including assessments of appropriate cloud platforms.
  • Architecture – Our planning and architecture services provide complete frameworks for defining appropriate Data & Analytics solutions.
  • Data Governance – We pragmatically look at your organisation as whole, making recommendations that cover Strategy, Structure, Policies and Standards, People, Process and Systems. By applying our Data Governance services, universities can improve the accuracy of their data capture, increase their operational efficiency and minimise risk and regulatory non-compliance.
  • Managed Services – Removing the key-person dependency risk in supporting and maintaining your Data & Analytics solutions that a lot of universities face with limited head count.

Our experienced team of Data & Analytics experts delivers tangible value quickly, covering key university areas such as:

  • Student engagement/retention/attrition analysis
  • Course health dashboards
  • University wide scorecards
  • Financial and regulatory reporting

Additionally, we design and deliver data and analytics solutions to manage the full student lifecycle and wider shared services including:

    • Student Recruitment
    • Student Experience
    • Admissions
    • Enrolments
    • Student Load
    • Surveys
    • Alumni
    • Research
    • Human Resources
    • Finance
    • Estate/facilities management
    • Of particular note, we have helped universities to proactively identify students at risk of leaving so that targeted support interventions can be delivered. Such solutions are not a one-off exercise in identifying students but rather an automated business process.

Supporters of Higher Education, not just suppliers

We are strong supporters of and active participants in the Higher Education sector:

  • Partners with The Australasian Association for Institutional Research (AAIR)
  • Chris Kearns was awarded Honorary Membership to AAIR during the AAIR SIG Forum held in Canberra in 2018. This was to recognise Chris’ and Altis’ contribution to the AAIR events continuously since 2009
  • Sponsored and co-presented with a customer at the AAIR Special Interest Group (SIG) Forum since 2009 and the AAIR Annual Forum since 2011
  • Sponsored, presented at, and attended an array of other Higher Education conferences in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
  • We wrote part of the curriculum and provided Altis staff as teachers for the Masters of Analytics programme at Deakin University.
