The Sydney team went to Homebush in April for a team building event. It was a Friday afternoon when Robin (aka Bhumik) and his merry men (the Altis team) went to the Homebush archery centre. Before they could shoot, the Sheriff and his men showed everybody the rules and warned of the consequences of misbehaving.
It was a beautiful day with warm sun and laughter, especially when Daniel G’s first arrow flew way over the target. There was much competition. The sheriff’s captain (Chris) was disguised and ready to pop the balloons. He managed to get 3 but was outdone by Robin who took 5. Charlie took to shooting other teams’ balloons and Andrew the ironman shot with the heaviest bow with deadly accuracy; although the bow did leave some battle scars on his wrist. Jenita and Emilio showed the most improvement with fine accuracy and style. Team David and Liz were full of laughter as they tried to master the bow and arrow.
Bhumik took out the first competition with the second one going to a nail biting end with Jenita winning and John coming up as the runner-up, in the third competition there was a small controversy – the sheriff stepped in and ruled against Robin for getting the arrow on the line… such sportsmanship. Much to every one’s delight Robin was forced to take a humble defeat and allow for his merry men to contend the final stage. It came down to Liz and Nadia, who both fought with all their heart and might but neither would give up (or hit the target)… in the end a simple ‘rock-paper-scissors’ won the game for Nadia to continue on and the winner of that round was Pavan.
It was a good afternoon for all, a perfect way to end the long week and a perfect start to the weekend. Sherwood Forest was safe for another day.
