Altis Consulting believes that it is the responsibility of every organisation
and individual
to play an active role in reducing their impact on the world’s environment.
To that end, Altis has proactively taken steps to become a more environmentally
responsible corporate citizen. These practical and tangible steps include:
Utilising technology to minimise travel
for business
It is Altis’s intent to minimise intercity and intracity travel
for business and so minimise travel-related carbon emissions. To that
end, technology is being used to facilitate meetings that in the past
would have required travel. Altis have invested in phone and web conferencing
technology to support remote meetings.
Purchasing carbon offsets for business
flights
Every business flight booked for Altis staff includes the purchase of
carbon offsets.
Purchasing GreenPower (renewable energy)
Altis entered into a contract in Feb 2009 to purchase GreenPower
equivalent to 100% of the fossil fuel based energy we consume in each
office. This equates to over 110,000kWh of renewable energy being added
back to the grid each year.
Implementing a "3R policy"
in each office
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle make up the 3R policy. Each Altis office is
taking action locally to implement the 3R policy. This includes:
Getting our hands dirty
Each Altis office has a team social event every two months. Our next
round of social events will have a green tinge with tree planting being
a major aspect.
An Altis “Green Team” has been established to oversee the implementation of this policy at the local office level.
